Individuals

Hi, I’m Louise. I am a psychotherapist who facilitates working with art materials and creativity alongside talking. I aim to offer a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space to explore whatever questions, experiences, feelings or symptoms bring you to contemplate therapy. My hope is that through the support of the therapeutic relationship you discover ways to feel better, more resilient, and to lead a more fulfilling life.

The use of the arts alongside the core of talk-based psychotherapy, can offer another resource to help you more fully articulate and process feelings and experiences. This is particularly helpful at times when words are hard to find or are simply not enough. There is no need for you to have any previous arts experience or artistic skills to benefit from arts psychotherapy. The use of creativity can benefit anyone.

As an Integrative Art Psychotherapist, I work with a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches, allowing me to think about each person I work with holistically. Broadly speaking, I adopt humanistic (relational, person- centred) and psychodynamic and attachment focused theories (how the past impacts the present).

Experience

I have experience working within the NHS and the charitable sector. I currently work in private practice. I also teach and train on psychotherapy trainings at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and The Minster Centre.

Some of the areas I have worked with include but are not limited to: anxiety; depression; relationship issues; family issues; stress; assertiveness; grief/loss/bereavement; self- esteem/ self-worth; identity; work related issues; general malaise/sense of stuckness. Other areas I work with in particular include emerging adulthood, working with shame and with climate/eco- anxiety.

Qualifications

I have a Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (Merit), Diploma in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, and a Counselling Skills Certification from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) and the University of East London. I also hold a Masters in Museum and Gallery Education (Merit) from the Institute of Education.
