I am a qualified Counsellor and Coach registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I specialise in a model called Transactional Analysis – a versatile approach which combines elements from different humanistic and psychodynamic therapies.
I work with many individuals who wish to understand areas of difficulty that keep re-emerging, unhelpful patterns and dynamics in relationships. Transactional Analysis offers an accessible way to understand both how such patterns arise and healthier alternatives.
As a relational therapist, I am interested in how early relationships shape our sense of self and how we relate to others in our adult lives. I am particularly interested in the stories that we tell ourselves about our self, our role in relationships and our place in the world. The role of the therapeutic relationship is to give you a safe and supportive space to explore these in relation to the questions that bring you to therapy, trial new perspectives and approaches.
Whilst I aim to draw on established, evidenced-based methods I do not follow a prescribed, standard approach. To me, the therapeutic process with each client is unique, dynamic and collaborative. I adapt my ways of working to everyone’s individuality and context, through a process of continuous conversation with you.
I have experience across diverse settings including private practice, the charity sector and NHS. Alongside my own practice, I work with Mind and a busy counselling service in Deptford. I am an Honorary Psychotherapist within the NHS working with people who suffer from trauma and PTSD.
