Why Psychotherapy?
People come to therapy for many reasons and there is not a rule or a good reason to come. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, having an identity crisis or sometimes it is difficult to pin down what is exactly wrong. Whatever brings you here, sessions aim to help you to explore and bring an understanding to why you are thinking or doing something in a certain way, explore patterns, and bring relief to your suffering.
My Approach
I’m a qualified psychotherapist working with adults and young people in individual therapy. My approach is grounded in Lacanian psychoanalysis, which offers a particular way of listening. Rather than focusing on diagnoses or ready-made solutions, I work with the uniqueness of the person. I aim to encourage you to speak freely even if what you’re saying feels difficult. This way, new possibilities and alternatives can be discovered.
I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy according to individuals’ needs. Sometimes a meaningful change doesn’t follow a set timeline therefore more time may be needed. My role is not to offer advice, but to listen with attention to the way you speak, and help you to make sense of your experience. This may be what is repeated, difficult for you or something you have not noticed about yourself before.
I work with a variety of issues such as relationship difficulties, childhood trauma, psychosis, anxiety, depression and questions of identity and belonging. Sessions are between 30-50 minutes.
About Me
Alongside private practice, I’ve worked in both the NHS, and therapeutic communities, supporting people with complex emotional needs and longstanding difficulties. These experiences have helped me to understand a variety of issues such as different levels of mental health disorders, diversity and especially how culture impacts an individual.
